Suicide rates are absolutely going to continue to climb in the USA as long as our concept of “Mental Health” remains separated from material conditions.

Antidepressants can’t cure poverty and alienation. They can’t cure the crushing pressure that comes with watching climate changing in real time, but feeling powerless because the government is too corrupt to care. They can’t cure the many chronic physical health conditions people go without treatment for because the US physical health system is bullshit.

Always turning toward psychiatry for an answer is a perfect example of American style individualism killing people, because the problem is always said to exist in the individual’s brain chemicals, and society is always innocent.

This is evil.

Here’s a short list of things Republicans are okay with, so far: pedophiles, domestic abusers, fascists and rapists holding political office, an American resident being murdered by Saudis, police gunning down unarmed black children, children being shot at schools from Sandyhook to Parkland, refugee children being separated from their parents and kidnapped, refugee children being put in cages, and now unarmed women and children being tear gassed. From now until the end of time, I don’t EVER want to hear a Republican talk about how “pro life” they are. 😒

And yes, when I say “Republicans,” I’m talking about Republican politicians and the Republican voters who always always always vote them into office. In the words of George Orwell, “A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims… but accomplices.”

i hate this bullshit suggestion that emotion somehow invalidates truth. often times anger and pain are what’s needed to drive home how important something is and it can inspire action in folks who previously didn’t understand. not to mention what normal empathetic person wouldn’t have strong feelings about innocent people being murdered?!?!?! what in the actual fuck? acting like an emotionless robot on twitter doesn’t make you an intellectual brandon, it just means you’re an insensitive little shit.
